Montuno Cubano is a lively band, and their repertoire includes bolero, guaracha, salsa, mambo, rumba, conga, son Cubano, punto guajira, suca suca, and cha-cha-cha.

 

They perform original music by Jorge Peña and traditional Cuban classics with Jorge’s arrangements.

 

With passionate vocals and raw energy, Montuno Cubano creates a unique bond between the music and audience.

What is a Montuno?

In Cuban music, the montuno is the last section of a song, and it is usually faster, bolder, and semi-improvised.

 

In Spanish, “montuno” means, “comes from the mountain” and it refers to a style of music that originated in Santiago de Cuba, which is where Jorge Peña grew up on a coffee plantation.
