WHO WE ARE

JORGE PEÑA
Composer, Lead Vocals, Requinto
Jorge Peña is the composer, lead vocalist, and he plays the requinto, an instrument that looks like a guitar, but it is shorter, wider, and tuned higher so it has a bright sound.
He is from Santiago de Cuba which is widely recognized as the birthplace of traditional Cuban music and it is famous for a variety of genres including timba, salsa, bolero, and son. Jorge writes about his family, his country, and life experiences in Cuba. He uses the rhythms he learned from his musical family and from a generation of legendary Cuban musicians.
Jorge is a Permanent Resident of Canada and lives in Prince Edward Island.
MARK CARR-ROLLITT
Latin Percussion
On Latin percussion is Mark Carr-Rollitt who was a percussionist with the ECMA nominated band, The Count and the Cuban Cocktail.

Mark is well-versed in Cuban rhythms and has travelled to Cuba to work with a Cuban percussionist to study the evolution of complex rhythms



DEVIN HORNBY
Bass
Devin Hornby is an electric bass player with 15 years of professional experience playing contemporary music. He was introduced to Latin bass styles while studying music at Humber College in Toronto, and fell in love with Latin baselines and their myriad variations.
He performs in PEI with a variety of musicians including, Montuno Cubano, Craig Fair Music Productions, and More Soul.

LUIS PEÑA
Guitar & Vocals
For limited engagements during the summer, Jorge’s brother, Luis Peña, will be on guitar and vocals.
Jorge and Luis have been performing together for 25 years as Hermanos Peña, the Peña Brothers.
​
They have performed many times in Europe and worked for several years in Spain.
Jorge and Luis’ tight, flawless, sibling harmonies are captivating.
